Bring a change of clothes with you for the ride home, along with either cash for lunch (we will stop for fast food) or a packed lunch.  We should be back to church around 5pm.

Upcoming Retreats

Hey Everyone,

We have some awesome conference and district retreats coming up!

November 12-14, 2010 is the Middle School Conference Retreat at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg.

December 3-5, 2010 is the High School Conference Retreat at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg.

January 7-9, 2011 is the Farmville District Youth Retreat at VUMAC in Blackstone (7th-12th grades).

Start making your plans to attend these great retreats!  At the conference retreats, "Youth will be challenged to grow as disciples of Christ through powerful worship, Bible study, and small groups while building new friendships with youth from all over Virginia." (VAUMC Youth Website)  At the district retreat, teens will get a chance to experience worship, small group time, workshops and fellowship with other teens in the Farmville district.  We will talk more about details soon, but go ahead and put these dates on your calendar and start letting me know if you are planning on attending!

Peace,
Lyndsie

Youth Float!

Youth Float 2010 will be on Sunday, August 29th.
We will meet in the Social Hall after the 8:30am service to head to James River State Park to go tubing on the James.  Cost is $10 per person.  Either bring extra cash for lunch on our way home (we will stop for fast food), or pack a lunch!  Wear river shoes (not flip flops) and bring a towel and a dry change of clothes for the ride home.  Snacks and water will be provided during the float, but make sure to eat breakfast before we leave.

All teens need a signed release form and conduct covenant on file with me in order to attend (this was attached in the email or you can pick them up from the church office).

So far we have 20 people coming.  Reserve your spot soon...email me at LBlakely@farmvilleumc.org to let me know if you are coming.  It's gunna be a blast!

Welcome to FUSION

Welcome FUMC Teens!

Fusion: fu-sion (n) The merger or a blending of two or more things.

Like its definition, FUSION is seeking to connect us to God, each other and our community. If we learn to merge who we are with the person God has called us to be, something awesome is going to happen! FUSION will encourage us to live out the Romans 12:5 proclamation that “We, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.” Through worship, fellowship, mission, and diving into God’s Word, we will learn to live as one Body in Christ, seeking to transform our lives and our world!

FUSION will have many facets, and it’s all stuff for you!

FUSION Sunday School: FUSION Sunday school will be held Sunday mornings starting September 12th from 9:45-10:45am. The 6th graders meet in the Tween class in room 23. The 7th and 8th graders meet in the middle school class in room 21, and the 9th-12th graders meet in the high school class in room 1.

FUSION Gathering: FUSION Gathering will be Sunday nights from 7:00-8:30pm and begins Sunday, September 12th in Room 1. Gathering will consist of awesome worship, games, fellowship and Bible study as we try to figure out this whole “being a Christian” thing together. All 6th-12th grade students are invited and are encouraged to bring friends!

Hebrews Coffee House: Midweek Ministries at FUMC will be every Wednesday night from October 6th-November 10th and January 5th-19th. Come out at 5:15pm for worship and dinner, and then at 6:30pm the Teen Only coffee house opens. Hebrews Coffee House is a place where you can relax, talk with friends, play some games, listen to some music and have some coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) in the middle of the week. Why? Because sometimes you just need a little down time to hang out and catch up with friends.

FUSION Missional Outreach: Part of merging who you are with the person God calls you to be is loving your neighbor! Through FUSION’s Missional Outreach, you will have the opportunity to serve your neighbors in need both near and far through various activities.

Retreats:  There will be several conference, district and mission retreats throughout the year.  Be on the lookout for dates and deadlines to be sure you don't miss these awesome events!

I'm looking forward to meeting you all!  Get ready for an awesome year with FUSION!

Peace,
Lyndsie
